The primary focus of Nursing Studies QQI Level 5 course in North Connaught College is to prepare students for entry into a variety of Nursing Degree programmes in Ireland and the UK.
The following course modules prepare the student for future study in their chosen area and also provide a qualification to work as a healthcare assistant:
- Nursing theory and practice
- Anatomy and physiology
- Human growth and development
- Care skills
- Care of the older person
- Infection prevention and control
- Nutrition
- Communications
- Work-experience
This is a one year course that runs from September to May, during this time you will take part in work-placement in a healthcare setting where you will gain insight and experience into the practice of caring for people.
Former students have gone onto study General, Psychiatric and Intellectual Disability Nursing. Nursing studies graduates have also chosen other degrees such as BA Social Care Practice and BSc. Human Nutrition.
