  • Human growth and development
  • Care skills
  • Care of the older person
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Nutrition

  • Work-experience

This is a one year course that runs from September to May, during this time you will take part in work-placement in a healthcare setting where you will gain insight and experience into the practice of caring for people.

Former students have gone onto study General, Psychiatric and Intellectual Disability Nursing. Nursing studies graduates have also chosen other degrees such as BA Social Care Practice and BSc. Human Nutrition.

When asked why they want to do the Nursing Studies course students frequently say they are naturally caring and want to ‘work in the care sector’, ‘give something back to society’ or ‘want to make a difference to people’s lives’.
